Taylor Swift

Birthday: Dec 13, 1989

Birthplace: Reading, Pennsylvania, USA

On her way to becoming a global pop sensation, Taylor Swift wrote songs about the pleasures and hardships of adolescence. Swift's crossover success from a star in the country music world to a household name in pop culture happened seemingly overnight, but her immense natural talent, sincere songwriting, and joyfully free spirit gave her staying power on the charts.

Her second studio album, Fearless (2009), produced hit song after hit song, reached multi-platinum status, and brought her many accolades, including the Country Music Association (CMA) Entertainer of the Year award, which she won at the age of just 24—a record for the organization. Far from being a one-note performer, Swift showcased her acting talents in a variety of projects, including Taylor Lautner's love interest in the romantic comedy "Valentine's Day" and an episode of the CBS drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (2010).

Swift stood out among a sea of party-loving starlets, but at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, her fairy tale life took a bizarre turn when rapper Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech. Swift may have found the experience awkward, but the next morning, the entire nation was aware of her, and it seemed the sky was the limit for the multi-talented singer-actress who had won over the hearts of the nation.

With the release of her fifth album, 1989, a skillfully compiled collection of largely electronic pop songs that effortlessly propelled her into the center of the pop mainstream, she had made a gradual but significant transition away from Nashville country music into pure pop music. Swift announced the release date for her upcoming album, Reputation, on November 10, 2017, on August 24, 2017, following several days of social media teasers featuring snakes. On August 24, the first single, "Look What You Made Me Do," was also made available. The full video will premiere on August 27 at the VMA awards ceremony.
